Institution Overview Elmira College has always been a leader in education and was the first college to offer university degrees to women in 1855. The school is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region, near New York City. Elmira is a quaint city of about 35,000 which is perfect for your college experience. The college also hosts one of only two Mark Twain centers in the world. Elmira College library has an extensive archive of Mark Twain works and letters. The school combines a liberal arts curriculum with a professional education component which is perfect for students to continue on to medical school, law school, or physical therapy. Degrees are offered in Accounting, American Studies, Art, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, and many other majors. Current seven percent of the student population is from abroad and come from over 20 different countries. A completed application must include the application, an official transcript, two recommendations, and an essay. Applicants whose native language is not English must submit official TOEFL scores. The minimum required TOEFL score for admission is 525 on the paper test or 197 on the computer based test.
